The Sorella is a designer-inspired bag with two strap options that can be worn as a hip bag or a crossbody bag.
This style of bag is sometimes called a hip bag, fanny pack, bumbag, or waist bag. No matter what you call it, the Sorella is a chic, sophisticated version of the classic hip bag. This versatile bag is small enough to carry anywhere and large enough to hold your phone and other essentials, making it the perfect travel companion.
The pattern offers two strap options, so you can choose between constructing a traditional strap or using your choice of webbing. The pattern also includes two construction methods depending on the type of lining used: either adhesive lining or cotton/linen lining. The pattern’s main instruction uses adhesive lining, which you can purchase in three colors in the Simply Classic store. Shop adhesive lining here.
This pattern is written for use of non-fraying fabrics such as leather, faux leather and cork. We recommend an industrial or heavy-duty domestic machine. We recommend that you keep the woven interfacing out of the seam allowances if you are sewing on a domestic machine. It is important to know your machine and the materials that it can handle.

Materials
1/2 yard of material for the exterior (one roll of 18” faux)
1/4 yard of lining material (adhesive lining or cotton/linen fabric)
1/4 yard of woven interfacing if using cotton, linen, or other similar fabric for the lining
1 ¼ yards bias binding
1 ½ yards of 1” webbing (if making optional webbing belt/strap)
We recommend using real or faux leather to construct the exterior of bag and adhesive lining for the interior. There are two construction methods included in this pattern surrounding different lining options, so cotton or linen can also be used in lieu of adhesive lining. If using cotton or linen for the lining, the pieces will need to be backed with woven interfacing like SF101, Wovenfuse, or other similar weight interfacing. There is no stabilizer required for the construction of this bag.
